Don’t know if you still need help, but if you do:
It says to factor it, not to solve it, and even if you were to try to solve it you wouldn’t be able to unless W had a value, so I can see how you would have been frustrated.
24 and 12 are both even numbers, so their easy to factor down. The greatest common factor between 24 and 12 is 12. And 12 can go into 24 two times, while 12 can go into 12 one time. So 24 gets factored down to 2, and 12 gets factored down to 1.
You’re left with the equation 2w-1.
